Closed-cell structure provides integrated vapor resistance — prevents condensation on cold pipes without a separate vapor barrier. This is a physics requirement, not a preference: mineral wool absorbs moisture from condensation on cold pipes, loses thermal performance, and causes dripping and corrosion. |
